Architect: gmp von Gerkan, Marg and Partner
Nuremberg, Germany
The new AOK office, built by the Hochtief company according to plans by the architects gmp-von Gerkan, Marg and Partner, rises six stories high near the Frauentorgraben in the center of Nuremberg.
The barrier-free building with a service center for personal discussions on the ground floor, offers on the upper floors office space as well as conference and meeting rooms.
The Jura Gold limestone façade emphasizes the timeless elegance of the building, which is constructed round a roofed inner courtyard.
The slabs of different lengths and widths, manufactured according to cutting lists, received a haptic quality with their sandblasted surface.
Additional works like recesses, miter cuts or various drillings for the 4 cm or 5 cm thick cladding stones were already fabricated according to detailed drawings during production in the factory.
