Located in the middle of Cologne, only a walking distance from the Cathedral, is the Gerling Quartier, which after its reassignment with residential buildings, offices, shops and restaurants, has become a lively place in the inner city again.
The new design of the former Gerling corporate headquarters had to do justice to the demands of the preservation order for this historic area.
In order to create the same visual look as before, natural stone was used for the facades: VeroStone Jura Beige and to set accents Shell Limestone Fossil Smoke and Fossil Melange.
The slabs for walls and columns in thickness 3, 4 of 5 cm produced with anchor holes and mitre cuts, some of them had honed visible edges or false joints. Those for the soffits had rake cuts and were bolted with Fischer dowels.
