Little Church of Békéscsaba

Architect: Fajzi Építész Stúdió

Békéscsaba, Hungary

Built in 1745 and later expanded by two side wings, the first protestant church of Békéscsaba became already too small for the growing number of parishioners by the end of the 18th century.

Known today as the “Little Church of Békéscsaba” the architecturally valuable building still serves as a place of worship, even after the construction of the Great Church directly opposite. The whitewashed and unassuming interior of the Little Church allows the visitor to calm down and enjoy the silence.

During the renovation of the floor in 2021 honed slabs made of VeroStone Jura Gold, measuring 40 x 40 x 2 cm and skirtings of the same material were installed. Raw blocks of Jura Gold were supplied for the altar steps, which were then produced locally.

The natural stone harmonizes beautifully with the overall style of the church and thus contributes a lot to the aesthetics of the interior.
