Nuremberg, Germany
The new Premier Inn „Nürnberg City Opernhaus” rises in a central location directly opposite the old city wall and only a few meters away from the opera, which gives the hotel its name.
The exterior façade of Jura Gold forms a harmonic ensemble together with the neighboring administrative building of the AOK Direktion Mittelfranken, which is also clad with Jura Gold. More than 2.500 m2 of façade panels with a sandblasted surface were installed on the hotel’s front, offsets alternating right and left of the windows create an impression of double casements and break up the uniform appearance.
The window sills, also made of Jura Gold, were given a honed surface.
Numerous necessary additional works such as anchor drilling, recess, bevel, miter and rake cuts were manufactured according to detail drawings during production in the factory.
The planning for the project was realized by the Hamburg architectural office von Gerkan, Marg und Partner (gmp).
