Public Service Building Minneapolis, MN

Architect: MSR Design in partnership with Henning Larsen

Minneapolis, MN, USA

Across from the city hall rises the impressive new Service Center of Minneapolis, MN, which now also houses the staff, who were previously working at several locations all spread throughout downtown. Residents of the city are no longer met by the classic administration building, but by a contemporary yet timelessly elegant design. The entrance areas of the nine-storied building with its glass-aluminum façade are clad with light-colored VeroStone Jura Travertin with a honed surface.

In the interior, the Jura Travertin slabs with various thicknesses and in many different sizes were used as wall cladding over an area of about 1.600 m2. Additional works such as honed edges, rake cuts or cut outs were processed directly in the VeroStone factory, as were the drill holes for the applied FZP II undercut anchors by Fischer Group. The fixing point of these anchors is not visible on the face, so the lobby façade has an aesthetically appealing and harmonious surface, inviting for public and employees.
