Zakopane, Poland
In Zakopane, the natural mountain resort at the foothills of the Tatra range, rises the new Radisson Blu hotel.
The highest-located city in Poland is known for its locally typical highland architecture, which in combination with the Jugendstil creates a unique style of its own.
The sustainably oriented luxury and conference hotel was also built in the traditional architectural style of Zakopane: in combination with modern elements such as steel and glass, the upper part was given a façade made of larch wood beams. The building itself and the supporting walls were clad in natural stone.
Over 4.000 m2 Jura Beige rockface panels were installed. In order to be able to adapt the required sizes on site and to obtain an even façade surface, the natural stone was mainly supplied in random sizes.
The panels had lengths of up to 280 cm, heights of up to 160 cm and varied in thickness from 4-9 cm. About a quarter of the material was produced in fixed length of 150 cm with different heights.
With its traditional design and natural materials the hotel fits perfectly into its picturesque surroundings.
