Tokyo, Japan
The “Gallery of Horyuji Treasures”, the latest addition to the museum buildings in the Tokyo National Museum complex, houses an exceptional collection of religious objects, donated mainly by Horyuji Temple in Nara.
Designed by Yoshio Taniguchi in his minimalist style, the clear lines of the building present a calm contrast to busy Tokyo. This impression is emphasized by the quiet colour of an exterior façade of Jura Beige Limestone with honed surface.
The interior walls and floors in Jura Beige accentuate the timeless beauty of the ancient Japanese art.
